Is influencer marketing effective?

Ask any marketer and they will tell you that word of mouth marketing has the best effect. These influencers' opinions are respected and trusted by people and as such, hold greater weight on others when compared to typical ads.

With a growing number of people installing ad-blockers, influencers provide a way for brands to present their products and reach potential customers. Influencers are a great way for brands to reach out to the target demographic that identifies with the influencer. It not only helps build brand awareness but is also more likely to drive people into action.

However

A recent experiment carried out by Mediakix exposed how they could create fake influencer accounts just by spending a few hundred dollars on followers and engagement. Within a few weeks the two accounts received and secured sponsorship and deals.

So is it worth it?

Influencers are opinion leaders and a great way for brands to reach their target market but companies need to do proper research on their influencer or they might get scammed by fake accounts.
