Facebook News Feed Update
In an effort to reduce the spread of misinformation and financially-motivated individuals, Facebook has taken additional steps to remove and review content posted to their platform. This change is stated to affect those who circumvent Facebook's review process and distribute content that violates Facebook's community standards and advertising policies.
A technique known as "cloaking" has been used to get around Facebook's review process. This involves disguising the true destination of an ad, post or content so Facebook reviewers get sent to a different web page from someone else who clicks on the same link.
How will this affect you?
Facebook will be utilising artificial intelligence and an expanded human review process to identify, capture and verify cloaking. With thousands of offenders taken down in the past few months, pages that employ this technique will get removed.
"Pages that do not use this technique should not see changes to their referral traffic." So if you do not use cloaking, this change is beneficial as people will have more confidence clicking on links that you post.
